Week 3 I didn’t see too much progress, just maintained my gains from previous weeks. One day you could have something and then the next you could just as easily be worse. It all depends on the conditions. You have to be comfortable, relax and breath into poses or else it doesn’t work.
I was not comfortable pushing my hip flexor too far this week, which limited me. I also did a lot of shoulder flexibility and developed a slight twinge in my right shoulder. That quickly went away by having Dominick pull my arm away from my body and I moved it in all possible directions. I also did muscle isolations and the sensation left.
I immediately know when I need to take a break and rest, I never want to take it too far to where I get an injury and can’t work those muscles for months. I always try to take extra precaution.
I will be the first to admit I was not balancing myself when stretching. I need to focus more on my right side this week. I also needed to strengthen, so I did some poses and strength moves on the pole rather than contortion stretches. I also did a lot of hiking and playing in the trees, always very relaxing for me. I feel as though nature restores me.
Well despite not making any gains I still followed my routine, just chose not to push myself too hard. This upcoming Sunday I have a contortion class where I will go all out. But for now I’m going to let myself heal and only do minimal contortion stretching.
Happy stretching to you all, I see many of you making huge gains and I am so proud of you! Keep up the great work!!
